MONDAY - LEAVING LAKE MAGGIORE

Hi everybody. Here we are at …we don’t know what town we are at but we had a lot of fun getting here. We are at a delightful campsite on the shore of Lake Lugano in Switzerland which is relatively small lake between Lake Maggiore and the famous Lake Como, about 200 hundred metres from the campsite we thought we were were heading for.

After a delightful morning navigating the ferry commuter system and ascending by Funivia Stresa Mottarone (cable car)from which we could see forever we headed for and found a shopping centre complete with a carpark at which we stocked up.

We then headed for Como, deciding along the way that it would be nice to spend the night in a less touristy part of the world, thus the decision to look for a campsite on Lake Lugano. Unfortunately the one that our GPS directed us to no longer exists. We only found that out after going down a lane barely wider than our mirrors and ending up in a full car park with no chance of being able to turn around. Thanks to the assistance of a good samaritan, we manoeuvred our way out of there and headed for a nice campground we could see further around the lake.
We now know how to get there but no problem. Where we are is very nice even though it is run by an eccentric Swiss gentleman who insisted that we park where we obstruct the lake view of the people beside us even though there are plenty of vacant sites around.
Great fun.
Tomorrow, Como, Bellagio and, no doubt, various other places the names of which will end in o.

We have now had the van for a week. I still occasionally wave my left hand around looking for the gear stick but generally, I almost have the wrong side of the car, wrong side of the road, wrong hand to change gears under control. The only problem I continue to have is identifying which is right and which is left. It’s not what I say but what I mean that counts.
