Hi everybody. I know spectacular has been an overused adjective over the last three weeks but that is the only word I can use to describe where I am sitting as I type this. Check out the picture on the right. We are in Villa Amica in Positano. If you Google it, you will get a full description complete with pictures but they don’t do it justice. It is fabulous, looking directly down at Positano beach and along the coast.
It is Sunday morning, Trish’s birthday, and we will be having a celebratory breakfast a little later. Thanks to Skype, we will also be joining the party the family is having at Royal pines to celebrate the event.
We met Ken and Pam at Rome airport, friends of Gino and June’s we hadn’t met before. We then spent an hour and ten minutes on a Eurostar train travelling the 200 kms to Naples where we met Gino and June. The party will grow to approximately 20 in all before the grand finale on Friday when June’s birthday lunch is to be held.
We were treated to a midnight fireworks display last night on the mountain above us to celebrate a religious festival in the village up there. We couldn’t stay up late enough to watch it but it woke us up so we had to get up and look. It was a light and sound spectacular as the booms of the exploding fireworks echoed around the mountains.
Later today, we are off to Amalfi, a nearby town and guess what, tonight we are all going to dinner to celebrate Trish’s birthday. Life is one big party.
