Today
we headed of on our organized tour with Mika, the very competent
English speaking guide who was extremely informative, not only in
relation to our destinations but also every region we passed along
the way.
Our
first stop was the quaint town of Kamakura, a town on the coast south
west of Tokyo. We were only just off the freeway when we found
ourselves in extremely narrow streets with quaint houses. We were
there to visit he Jomjo-ji Temple where we were treated to a Japanese
Tea Ceremony. By remarkable coincidence, we bumped into somebody on the same tour that had taught with Trish at Aquinas in the 1970's.
From
there we moved on to the Hokoku-in Temple where he features of note where a bamboo planation and some caves dug by the samurai some hundreds of years ago.
We then went to the Kotoku-in Temple and the Great Buddha, said to be the second largest buddha in Japan.
After
a Japanese lunch, we moved on to Enoshima an island just off the
coast where we experienced even more temples and views of the Pacific
Ocean. We then went to the Kotoku-in Temple and the Great Buddha, said to be the second largest buddha in Japan.
Tomorrow should be a little less hectic. Our principal commitment is to look after Bella while the wedding festivities take place.
