SUNDAY 7TH - A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

This morning we had the delightful experience of attending the Ballet Folklore de Mexico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. It was a truly energetic and colourful dance and music experience based on the dance traditions of Mexico presented in a most spectacular venue. We were really pleased that we accepted the recommendation to attend it.

To get our daily exercise and as an exercise in navigation, we walked the two kilometres to get back to our hotel where we had a delightfully lazy afternoon.

One thing we noticed more of when walking were the abandoned buildings, some quite large, which are presumably awaiting demolition following damage caused by the 2017 earthquake. It seems that there is a lot of bureaucracy both in relation to the question of whether some of them were properly built in the first place and in relation to the question of how they are to be demolished. It looks to be a very challenging issue.

LA tomorrow afternoon as we head for phase 5 of our great adventure. What a fabulous experience we have had in Mexico. It would not have been anywhere near as interesting without the company, guidance and assistance of Therese and Mario. We are very grateful to them.
