This morning
we successfully collected our home for the next three weeks and are now
comfortably settled in at the Riverside RV Park at Whistler. The picture above
was taken from the roadside just west of Whistler.
On the way
here, we dropped by the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics . The picture of the
ski jump doesn’t tell the story of how horrifically tall and steep it is. What
a crazy sport.
When we
checked in, we were told that there have been a lot of bears around and asked
to take care that no rubbish was left outside etc. Will we get to see one?
Fortunately we are fully self contained so won’t have any reason to go outside
once it gets dark.
Tomorrow we
will head up the Two Peaks Gondola, the major summer attraction for those of us
who don’t want to engage in more energetic pursuits. It is apparently very
spectacular.
For those
who are interested in such things, the motor home is a Ford F350 with a V8
petrol engine and automatic transmission. I hate to think what the fuel
consumption will be but we have our National Parks Pass so are looking forward
to some very economical camping in the British Columbia National Parks.
