GROUNDHOG DAY – FRIDAY AGAIN

Having left Sydney at approximately 1:00pm yesterday (Friday), we arrived here in Santiago today (Friday) at approximately 11:00am this morning after a very comfortable flight.

The good news is that our luggage caught up with us and arrived in Santiago on the same plane.

Santiago is a city of contrasts We passed extensive shanty towns on the way into the city from the airport but where we are staying is very much a modern, comfortable and safe city with the occasional old decrepit building among the skyscrapers. This afternoon was spent walking round the city in the general vicinity of the hotel. We will be spending several nights here at the end of the trip so will see more of the city then.

Tomorrow we go to Iguassu via Sao Paulo to see some falls which are allegedly much bigger than Niagara falls. They should be impressive. From there we go to Buenos Aires to join the Antarctic expedition.
