We're here – aboard the ship after a 4:15 am wake up, a four hour flight and several hours exploring Ushuaia.
We
have done the obligatory drill, obtained our parka and boots, enjoyed
an excellent meal with too much wine and, at 9:45, are ready for bed,
although it is still daylight outside. Perhaps it doesn't get dark.
We
are four hours away from the open ocean so we will see what the night
brings but we can apparently expect "some movement" – hopefully not
too much. The on board doctor was conducting a discussion this
evening on how to deal with seasickness but we don't believe in it so
we skipped it – fingers crossed. We cross the infamous Drake
Passage for the next two days before getting to the calm waters of
the Antarctic Peninsula where all the fun things happen.
There
is internet access that I have signed up for so we will see how far I
get for what I have paid. Unfortunately it is very slow so I won't
dare try to publish any pictures. You will have to wait for them.
