DAY 10 - PORT LINCOLN - (NO) SHARK DIVING DAY

What a spectacular day for diving with sharks. The crew said that the weather we have enjoyed over the last few days has been unusually good and conditions today were perfect.

Unfortunately it was obviously too good for the sharks because they didn’t turn up. What you see below is what I was hoping for but the only thing predictable about sharks (like fish) is their unpredictability.

It was a very interesting day nonetheless and, because there were only five guests on the boat, we could spend as much time as we wanted to in the 16 degree water waiting, waiting, waiting for not much to happen. There was a school of trevally hanging around but even encouraging them into a feeding frenzy didn’t attract any shark attention. Fortunately, the wetsuit, boots, gloves and hood were of excellent quality and it was surprisingly comfortable in the water.

Trish had a very productive day washing, shopping and walking.

It’s the appetizing baby seals like the one on the right that apparently attract the sharks to the area.

Tomorrow we hope to get the car fixed. I suspect we will have a very quiet day. I might even have to log into the office for the first time and find out what is happening in the real world.
