Day 12 – PORT LINCOLN FOR THE LAST TIME

No it's not the Gold Coast. It's Port Lincoln with some very impressive waterfront property.

Today was very much a good news, bad news day.

The good news – the car appears to be fixed and we are heading west towards the Nullabor tomorrow. If the blog doesn’t get updated for a few days, you will know that there is no mobile phone reception on the Nullabor.

The bad news – there was a death on Lady Elliot Island today. I understand that the media is reporting it as a drowning but it appears to have been a health event, perhaps a heart attack. A Canadian couple in their 60’s were snorkelling when she noticed him stop moving. She was able to get him out of the water but couldn’t revive him. She advised a doctor who happened to be on the island as a guest that he had stated that he was suffering shortness of breath before he went snorkelling.

It was very traumatic for her of course and the staff who were called upon to assist.

On a much more mundane level, we had a very physical day today, doing a lot of walking but we have now seen more enough of Port Lincoln, as impressive as it is and are keen to move on.

Sharks are very much a topical issue here as these widely distributed signs demonstrate at local swimming beaches.
