DAY 20 – MARGARET RIVER

Yes there is a river at Margaret River and we are in a caravan park located on its bank. Unfortunately our site isn’t quite on the river but, apart from the sound of the TV in the van next door, it is very tranquil. We about a kilometre from the main street, a cross between Noosa and Positano where the beautiful people obviously hang out.

We are drinking a Margaret River sauvignon blanc which I bought at the bottle shop. The serious wine selection happens tomorrow when we do a wine tour. Tomorrow night’s blog might be very brief.

The prices of the local wine appear to be a bit above my normal wine budget but we will see what tomorrow brings.

We started the day communing with the local wildlife.

We then spent most of the morning checking out the sights of Walpole, most notably the Valley of the Giants. Very impressive.

Most of the road between Walpole and here was through heavily timbered picturesque country with an amazing number of wineries and B&B’s. Are there really enough customers to keep them all viable?

Below are pictures of some of the local bird life encountered today.
