I am
starting tonight’s blog by sharing with you a photo of our powered site at the
Caiguna “Caravan Park”. It was very peaceful and, while we had neighbours, they
were some distance from us. As the friendly lady in the office said, “Park
wherever you like”.
We are now
in suburban Esperance, having traversed Australia’s Longest Straight Road to
get here, with the noise of passing traffic in the background. Very different.
It was our intention to go and camp in Cape Le Grande National Park but, when I
called at the Visitor Centre to get our National Park Pass, I was told that, to
get a camp site, you have to queue in the morning so, not being very good at
queuing, we are in the very nice Foreshore Caravan Park with the old folk.
We will
spend the day exploring the National park tomorrow. The local tourism booklet
describes it as "one of Western Australia’s best known and most spectacular
national parks". Sounds pretty good.
Esperance is
very impressive, both for the coastal scenery and for the level of commercial
activity.
